XPDC, Izo return to the stage after 11 years

AFTER about 11 years of never collaborating and often being the cause of clashes between their two die-hard fans, XPDC Kita Pengyu (KPY) and XPDC guitarist ‘Militia’ Izo are finally sitting together and will be sharing the stage at the special XPDC Reunion concert next month.

The meeting saw Izo and the XPDC KPY members mingling without any awkwardness.

XPDC KPY and Izo, who were invited to an interview session with a local radio station, said they chose to be professional without raising any issues in order to make the concert that fans had been waiting for a long time a success.

“Our lives are always changing. Yesterday was different, today is different, and tomorrow or the day after might be different. We just get through it.

“We are working, and just as we are working today, maybe tomorrow we will be working somewhere else,” said Izo when asked about his acceptance of the invitation to perform with his original XPDC friends

Izo, who will be teaming up with Yantoi as bass player, his son as guitarist and Ali as vocalist, also expressed his joy at being able to be with XPDC KPY in the project.

Meanwhile, XPDC drummer Amy said the concert was a special moment for fans who had long wanted to see them reunite on stage.

According to Amy, it not only makes fans happy, but also brings joy to other XPDC members including Zuar, Jeff, Ary and the group’s manager, Yazid Selamat.

“I was a bit surprised at first when I received this offer, but I believed it was written and I accepted it with an open heart.

“Everyone has reached their golden age. As long as we can continue to work, we will do our best for the XPDC fans who are still around today,” said Amy.

Meanwhile, XPDC KPY manager Yazid Selamat said his party was always open and appreciated the professional attitude shown by Izo, Ariff and Yantoi in making the concert a success.

“It’s like an old friend coming back to the side after a long time apart. Our relationship isn’t just a year or two, it’s been going on since before XPDC was established in the 1980s.

“This is a very special gift from XPDC for fans. What’s past, let it pass and remain a part of our history. We’re opening a new book.”

“We know that the services of the late Mael, Izo, Amy and also Zuar have enabled XPDC to be at the level they are at now.

“I hope all XPDC fans don’t miss this opportunity which certainly doesn’t come along often in this era and time,” said Yazid.

The XPDC Reunion concert will meet fans on October 17 at the Mega Star Arena, Kuala Lumpur.

Tickets for the concert have been on sale since last month and have reportedly received a warm reception from fans who have been waiting for this historic moment for a long time.
