Takaful Industry Embraces Digital Innovation, Professionalism At TLAS 2026

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 20 (Bernama) — The Malaysian takaful industry is placing greater emphasis on digital innovation, professional development and customer trust as it seeks to strengthen the role of takaful agents in an increasingly technology-driven financial landscape.

These priorities took centre stage at the Takaful Leaders and Agents Summit (TLAS) 2026, organised by the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) recently under the theme “Lead the Next: Human Trust, Digital Edge, Takaful Excellence”.

The summit featured discussions on artificial intelligence (AI), digital marketing, professional branding and leadership development.

One of the key highlights of TLAS 2026 is the launch of the Takaful Agent Professional Pathway (TAPP), a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening competencies, raising professional standards and providing a more structured career development pathway for takaful agents in Malaysia.

The launch of TAPP marks another significant step in the takaful industry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen human capital development, particularly among agency professionals who play a vital role in providing financial protection advice and guidance to the public.

TAPP is introduced as a professional development framework designed to provide a more structured pathway for enhancing the knowledge, skills and capabilities of takaful agents, in line with the evolving industry landscape and increasingly complex consumer needs.

MTA’s chief executive officer Mohd Radzuan Mohamed said the industry’s future depended not only on product innovation and technological advancement but also on its ability to develop professional, knowledgeable and ethical agents.

“Technology can enhance the efficiency of service delivery, but customer trust remains the foundation of the industry’s success,” he said at TLAS 2026.

He said that through TLAS 2026, MTA aims to nurture a new generation of takaful leaders and agents who not only strive for business excellence but also recognise their responsibility as trusted financial protection advisors to the communities they serve.

The TLAS 2026 organisation also supports the industry’s broader Takaful for All agenda, which emphasises expanding access to financial protection, raising public awareness, and strengthening Malaysians’ financial resilience.

The summit’s agenda also included a session titled “AI Won’t Replace Agent. Agent Using AI Will”, highlighting the growing importance of technological adoption among takaful professionals.

Other sessions focused on building professional brands through digital platforms, social media prospecting, leadership and achieving Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) excellence.

The programme also featured a sharing session by Takaful leaders, providing valuable industry insights, experiences and perspectives on strengthening professionalism and driving the future growth of the Takaful industry.

The summit was supported by Unifi as digital partner, Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd as platinum sponsor and AIA PUBLIC Takaful Bhd as gold sponsor.
