State government considering creating Deputy Exco position, strengthening administration – Negeri Sembilan MB

SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Ismail Lasim, announced that the state government is considering a proposal to create a Deputy Exco position to help strengthen the state administration.

He explained that the Exco positions will be filled by several State Assemblymen (ADUNs) from component parties including Barisan Nasional (BN), PAS and Parti Wawasan Negara (WAWASAN).

“It’s possible that we will also… appoint a Deputy Exco. Deputy Exco? It’s possible… it’s being… being considered.”

“Because we are many, right? And we may not be able to accommodate everyone in the queue. So, we may create (Exco additions) in several portfolios that I think are important,” he said when met by reporters at Wisma Negeri, here, on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Ismail said that the process of selecting the Exco line-up is still being refined by taking into account the balance between parties, areas and women’s participation.

“The shadow exists, but it is still being harmonized. We take into account the parties, we take into account the districts. It is impossible for one district to have so many people. We also have to divide and think about women,” he added.

He also informed that the number of Exco members is expected to remain at 10 as currently allocated, while the portfolios and full line-up of Exco members are expected to be announced as early as Friday or next Monday at the latest.

Ismail today officially began his duties as the ninth Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan.

He, who was wearing a dark blue suit, arrived at the Wisma Negeri building here at 9am and was greeted by the State Secretary, Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim, before having his fingerprints scanned.
