Samsung plans full automation of global factories with agentic AI by 2030

SAMSUNG announced a new strategy to transform its global manufacturing operations into AI-driven factories by 2030, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 held in Barcelona recently.

The strategy focuses on the use of agentic AI, industrial robotics and digital twin simulation to create a fully autonomous manufacturing environment, Amanz reported .

According to Samsung, AI will be used throughout the manufacturing process, including raw material logistics, production, quality assurance and product delivery.

The company also implemented a digital twin simulation system to evaluate workflows virtually before applying them to the actual factory, to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.

Samsung also plans to apply agentic AI in safety, health and environmental (EHS) operations, including proactive detection and automatic prevention of hazardous risks in manufacturing areas.

In addition, various types of specialized robots — including logistics robots, operations robots and security robots — will be deployed to support automation processes at production sites.

With this comprehensive implementation, Samsung expects its network of component manufacturing plants including DRAM and NAND to be able to operate fully autonomously by 2030.
