adminKOTA KINABALU: The United Sabah National Organisation (USNO) party today officially announced its withdrawal from the Sabah People’s Coalition (GRS).
USNO president Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia confirmed the matter to Bernama by simply giving a simple answer of “true” without any further comment.
Earlier, he was asked about the validity of a statement titled Salam Terakhir: USNO Says Goodbye to GRS which was uploaded on the USNO Newspaper Facebook page, which claimed that the party had made the decision.
According to the statement, Pandikar Amin also resigned as Deputy Chairman of GRS and the decision was announced during his meeting with GRS Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also the Chief Minister of Sabah, on Tuesday.
“The USNO President’s decision was also unanimously accepted on April 22 at the USNO Supreme Executive Council Meeting to withdraw from the GRS coalition.
“Among the initial justifications for the USNO decision was that there was no longer any consistency in the administration and government policies, especially after the 17th Sabah Legislative Assembly Election,” he said.
Following the decision, USNO reiterated its stance to remain a political party based on the struggle of local Sabah natives and committed to the role of checks and balances on government administration.
The party also pledged to continue to fight for the aspirations of the marginalized people, as well as expressing gratitude to Hajiji and all GRS component partners for the togetherness they have established previously.
With this development, GRS is now comprised of the Sabah People’s Idea Party (Gagasan Rakyat), Sabah United Party (PBS), Sabah People’s Hope Party (PHRS), Sabah Love Party (PCS) and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
