KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) — The upcoming National Nation-Building Conference, scheduled from November 30 to December 2, will serve as an important platform to discuss the challenges of building a national identity within Malaysia’s plural society.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the conference, to be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national unity and build a stable, inclusive, and resilient nation.
He touched on this matter while chairing the 2nd Meeting of the National Unity Advisory Council (MPPN) for 2026 today.
“Several MPPN members are directly involved in this conference. I invite all MPPN members to attend the National Nation-Building Conference so that it can yield meaningful contributions toward strengthening national unity and building a stable, inclusive, and resilient nation,” he said in a Facebook post.
Fadillah, who is also MPPN Chairman, noted that the national unity agenda requires continuous effort from all parties, including leadership, the public and private sectors, and grassroots communities.
“The language of unity is not merely a slogan, but a vital foundation for the nation’s stability and future,” he said.
In facing the challenges of the modern world and the heat of the digital landscape, he emphasised that harmony must continue to be preserved through the appreciation of mutual understanding, respect, and acceptance of one another.
Meanwhile, Fadillah shared that Budget 2027 provides an increased allocation for the Rukun Tetangga Grant (KRT) for each active registered KRT, raising it from RM6,000 to RM10,000 – a 66.7 percent increase.
He expressed hope that this increase would provide more room for KRTs to expand community activities, foster closer neighborhood ties, and strengthen unity at the grassroots level.
The meeting also discussed various matters related to the unity agenda, including the Student National Integration Networking Programme (JALIN) among the Subpan ethnic community in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
Fadillah expressed appreciation for the commitment and insights of the MPPN members, stressing that close cooperation between the government, agencies, and society is crucial to preserving the country’s harmony.
“Unity is our strength. It is our shared responsibility to continue preserving harmony and building an united, peaceful, and prosperous Malaysia,” he said.
