KUALA LUMPUR: Decisions regarding disciplinary action against any member are under the jurisdiction of the party’s Disciplinary Board, stressed Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He was responding to the party’s Vice President, Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee after he questioned why he was not sacked following his involvement in the ‘Reset’ programme and meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Bangkok, Thailand.
According to Muhyiddin, the action was not under his jurisdiction as president.
“I know he has a wish if we can fire him. But that’s not my job. This is the Disciplinary Board. The Disciplinary Board weighs the weight of the case .
“The way Datuk Seri Hamzah went to Bangkok, as I mentioned, he went to negotiate without the approval of the Supreme Council. He violated the constitution,” said Muhyiddin.
He said this in a press conference after the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) meeting and the Bersatu Malaysia Iftar ceremony in the capital today.
Earlier, Ronald challenged the party’s Disciplinary Board to fire him if he was truly guilty.
Through a post on his Facebook page, he revealed that he had only been suspended from party membership for two terms or six years, effective Tuesday, for violating Clause 9.1.4 of the Constitution and the Members’ Code of Ethics and Conduct.
The Beluran MP claimed that the decision further reinforces the perception that the party’s Disciplinary Board is now being used as a political tool to protect the president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and the small group around him.
