MOH Expedites Efforts to Fill Medical Officer Positions for 2025
Putrajaya, 7 August 2025 – The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) extends its utmost appreciation and gratitude to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, following the Penghargaan Untuk Rakyat Malaysia (Appreciation for the People of Malaysia) announcement made on 23 July 2025.
As part of this announcement, the government has approved the permanent appointment of 4,352 Medical Officers under Grade UD10 for the year 2025 — a major initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s public healthcare system.
In line with this announcement, MOH swiftly initiated engagement sessions with central agencies, including the Ministry of Finance (MoF), Public Services Commission (SPA), and the Public Service Department (JPA) to ensure that the appointments are implemented in phases.
This phased approach is necessary as it involves medical officers from several contract cohorts, and is intended to ensure fairness in terms of seniority and officer welfare.
Following these engagements, SPA has begun issuing offer letters to selected candidates, with all letters expected to be sent out by 18 August 2025.
The appointed officers are expected to report for duty at MOH healthcare facilities nationwide starting from 2 October 2025.
MOH also extends its sincere appreciation to JPA, SPA, and the Ministry of Finance for their close cooperation in ensuring the timely implementation of these permanent appointments.
The Ministry remains committed to ensuring the smooth execution of the entire appointment process.
This initiative forms part of MOH’s broader strategic efforts to strengthen the nation’s public healthcare system by ensuring the critical positions are filled in a well-planned, balanced, and needs-based manner.
