TORONTO: Popular K-pop star Lisa received a warm welcome from fans when she attended the premiere of her latest documentary, Always Lalisa, at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Friday.
Thunderous cheers accompanied the Blackpink singer’s appearance on the red carpet as hundreds of fans gathered to get a closer look at their idol, who is now increasingly actively developing her career as a solo artist.
The documentary Always Lalisa reveals Lisa’s career journey throughout the period 2024 to 2025, as she explores various new opportunities outside of Blackpink.
Among the highlights featured are the launch of his first solo album, Alter Ego, his acting debut in the HBO series The White Lotus and his preparations for a successful solo performance at the Coachella music festival.
Lisa, or her full name Lalisa Manobal, said that this period opened up space for her to challenge herself and try new things in the entertainment world.
The documentary directed by Sue Kim also provides a more personal insight into Lisa’s life and artistic journey off stage, something that fans have rarely witnessed throughout her career with the famous K-pop group.
After focusing on her solo project, Lisa returned with Blackpink, who released the mini album DEADLINE in February, the group’s first new work in over three years.
Always Lalisa is scheduled to hit cinemas starting October 12.
