
Kalani David died on a surfboard
COSTA RICA: World professional surfer Kalani David reportedly died after suffering a seizure while surfing on the beach of Costa Rica, last Saturday.
Citing a CNN report, his father, David David informed that his 24-year-old son was a dedicated athlete throughout his involvement in the world of sports.
“Kalani David is successful in two different sports, namely surfing and skateboarding. His talent has been evident since he was 14 years old.
“At a young age, he won gold medals in the team and individual categories. David can be considered an experienced veteran athlete,” he said about the excellence his son had achieved including winning the ISA Junior Water Surfing Championship in Panama in 2012.
Professional surfer of the United States (US), Kelly Slater also shared his sadness about the loss of a great talent in the sport of surfboarding.
“Kalani is one of the most talented surfers in the world, he always puts boundless enthusiasm every time he stands on the surfboard. Condolences to Kalani and the community that always supports Kalani’s struggle,” he wrote.
Citing a 2019 Men’s Journal article, Kalani David underwent surgery to treat a heart condition called Wolff-Parkinson White syndrome.
This surgery was done to help reduce the seizures he experienced.
In his last post on Instagram, the deceased also shared a video of him doing skateboarding activities with various unusual stunts.
