KUALA LUMPUR: Former UMNO vice-president, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, has promised to shoulder the trust with full commitment and adhere to the party’s principles of struggle, in line with the slogan “past, present, forever”.
He said this following the decision of the UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) to reinstate him after being suspended for three years.
In a statement on Saturday, Hishammuddin expressed gratitude for the decision.
“Alhamdulillah, the UMNO Supreme Working Council has lifted my suspension after three years. I will continue to fight and serve, shoulder the trust with full commitment and adhere to the party’s principles of struggle, past, present and forever,” he said.
Hishammuddin also welcomed UMNO’s approach of opening the door wide to accepting back members who had previously been subject to disciplinary action, fired or left the party for various reasons.
On Friday, UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Seri Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki announced that a total of 6,252 former UMNO leaders and members at various levels had been readmitted to join the party under the Rumah Bangsa initiative.
According to him, the move is part of support for the Rumah Bangsa idea initiated by UMNO President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, to strengthen the party’s internal unity and stability.
