Daim’s son to give statement to MACC on April 6

KUALA LUMPUR: The son of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin is scheduled to appear and give a statement at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya on April 6.

MACC Special Operations Division Director, Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin, said the matter was confirmed by their lawyer who also assured that his client would be present, according to a report in Harian Metro today.

According to Zamri, MACC took note of the assurances provided by the lawyers and expected their commitments to be fully complied with.

“If any individual fails to attend as promised, further action will be considered in accordance with the provisions of the law in force,” he said.

On February 27, a notice was posted on the MACC’s official Facebook account to track down all the children of the former Finance Minister.

They are Asnida, Md Wira Dani, Muhammed Amir Zainuddin and Muhammed Amin Zainuddin.

The notice stated that it was issued to assist in the investigation, but did not detail the case involved.

According to MACC, the notice was issued after no response was received, and efforts to contact the four individuals failed until February 26.

However, the lawyer informed that their client was abroad and was having difficulty contacting him.
