CPO Futures End Lower Amid Weaker Soybean Oil Prices

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) — Crude palm oil (CPO) futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower on Wednesday, as weaker soybean oil prices weighed on market sentiment.

Iceberg X Sdn Bhd proprietary trader David Ng said concerns over elevated Malaysian palm oil inventories and expectations of record October palm oil production dampened market sentiment. “We see immediate support around RM4,600 per tonne, while resistance is expected at RM4,800, with market direction likely to remain sensitive to movements in soybean oil and energy prices,” he told Bernama.

At the close, the November 2026 contract fell RM73 to RM4,522 per tonne, the December 2026 note dropped RM70 to RM4,662, and January 2027 slipped RM50 to RM4,767.

The February 2027 contract fell RM30 to RM4,868 per tonne, March 2027 shed RM11 to RM4,957, and April 2027 dipped RM3 to RM5,014.

Trading volume slid to 119,654 lots from 142,270 on Tuesday, while open interest climbed to 335,340 contracts from 334,160 previously.

The physical CPO price for November South lost RM10 to RM4,550 per tonne.
