adminSHANGHAI, Sept 25 (Bernama) — A three-dimensional (3D) printing company, Shining 3D Tech Co Ltd in China, has agreed to sponsor training for 50 Malaysian Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainers, covering accommodation, meals, and the course itself.
Deputy Minister of Works and Malaysia’s Chef de Mission to the WorldSkills Competition (WSC), Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan, said that the sponsorship aims to help Malaysia prepare to venture into a new field, dental prosthetics, at the next WSC 2028 in Aichi, Japan.
“Shining 3D is the largest 3D printer company in China and the third largest in the world. The company is assisting Malaysia in two competitive fields where we are sending participants, namely additive manufacturing and mechanical engineering CAD.
“Following this, they have agreed to help us in yet another field, which is dental prosthetics, for the upcoming WSC 2028,” he told Bernama after attending a meeting with Shining 3D’s top management here today.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Human Resources Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, the Malaysian delegation, and the Chief Executive Officer of Shining 3D along with the company’s top management.
Commenting on the importance of the dental prosthetics field, Ahmad noted that modern 3D printing-based technology enables dentures to be manufactured within a few days, compared to traditional methods that take months.
WSC Shanghai 2026 sees the Malaysian contingent represented by 22 participants competing in 21 skill segments covering various technical sectors under the supervision of the Department of Skills Development and the Ministry of Works.
The tournament, taking place from September 22 to 27, brings together 1,400 of the best skilled young professionals from more than 65 countries and regions representing 64 skill areas.
