Benjamin Lerner Drops New EP Run Towards the Truth, Expanding His Addiction Recovery Advocacy Through Music
Vermont-based artist and recovery advocate continues his mission to inspire through music and storytelling

EAST ARLINGTON, Vt., Feb. 24, 2025 – Run Towards the Truth, the latest EP from Benjamin Lerner, is now available on all streaming platforms. Released by Old Mill Road Recording, the project marks the second installment in a three-part series that blends hip-hop, spoken word, jazz, classical, and folk music to chronicle Lerner’s journey of addiction recovery.

Lerner, a musician, content creator, and outspoken advocate for addiction recovery, has been sober since June 2016 after battling fentanyl, heroin, and crack cocaine addiction. His music serves as both an artistic expression and a platform for raising awareness about substance abuse and sobriety.

The Run Towards the Truth EP follows Keep Moving Forward, which debuted in November 2024, and precedes Don’t Quit Before the Miracle Happens, set for release later this year. The series is inspired by Lerner’s personal mantra:

“Keep moving forward. Run towards the truth.
Don’t quit before the miracle happens.”

The mantra, which also served as the closing message of Lerner’s long-running CLEAN Column in the Vermont News Guide, encapsulates his philosophy of resilience and transformation.

A Growing Movement in Recovery Advocacy
Lerner’s advocacy extends far beyond his music. His CLEAN Campaign, launched in collaboration with his producer and mentor Dr. Joshua Sherman, has grown into a nationwide movement. What began with his debut album CLEAN in 2020 has since evolved into a multi-platform initiative, featuring speaking engagements at renowned venues like Carnegie Hall and The Aspen Institute, as well as a recovery-focused radio show, CLEAN Jams, airing on 102.7 WEQX.

Additionally, Lerner has built a substantial social media following, with over 300,000 fans and more than 150 million video views, using digital platforms to connect with and support those struggling with addiction.

A Powerful New Sound and High-Profile Collaborations
The four-track Run Towards the Truth EP showcases Lerner’s signature storytelling style with tracks like Get Out While You Still Can, Impostor Syndrome, Switched Up, and the introspective closer, Distant, which is accompanied by a visually striking music video. All tracks were produced by Sherman and mixed by GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer Benjamin Arrindell at Old Mill Road Recording.

One of the most highly anticipated tracks on the EP is Impostor Syndrome, featuring Colicchie, a Pittsburgh-based sober hip-hop artist known for his viral hit Drug Addiction. Colicchie, who played a pivotal role in launching the recovery rap movement in 2017, shares a connection with Lerner through their past collaborations with late hip-hop icon Mac Miller.

“Colicchie is a legend in the recovery music space,” says Lerner. “His music gave me the courage to share my own story. It’s an honor to collaborate with him.”

Lerner also credits Dr. Sherman for his ongoing support in advancing both his music and advocacy efforts. “Dr. Sherman believed in my story when no one else did,” Lerner shares. “In recovery and in music, having people who support you can make all the difference.”

With Run Towards the Truth, Lerner continues to use his platform to uplift and inspire. The EP is available now on all streaming services and at BenjaminLerner.com.
