Through the leading professional development program, Global Media Makers (GMM) LA Residency 2026, all of them will gather in Los Angeles, United States from September 12 to October 3, 2026 to undergo intensive training and build strategic networks in the global entertainment ecosystem.

This time, the national contingent features a mix of multi-disciplinary talent that includes directors, producers, and screenwriters.

Organized by the non-profit organization Film Independent in collaboration with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, US Department of State, this three-week program offers exclusive access to masterclasses as well as direct exposure to international film business practices.
GMM, which was established in 2016, is known for its world-class mentor network.
Among the industry figures who have provided guidance include Selma director Ava DuVernay; Chernobyl series creator Craig Mazin; The Farewell director Lulu Wang; and Arrival cinematographer Bradford Young.
As the organizer, Film Independent is also the entity behind the prestigious independent cinema awards, the Film Independent Spirit Awards.
Opening the Gates to International Markets
The participation of these nine artists is not just about attending workshops, but also acts as an important bridge to promote local works. Through a deep understanding of the US market structure, this program opens up vast opportunities for co-production, project financing, and international distribution.
