Allegations of rejection of BN candidates in four seats are from the perspective of ‘political enemies’ – Ab Rauf

MASJID TANAH: Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh described the claim that there was rejection of Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates in four State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats as a view coming from political enemies.

The Barisan Nasional (BN) Melaka chairman stressed that views from different parties tend to give a negative impression of the opposing party.

The rejection of candidates allegedly occurred in four seats, namely Kuala Linggi, Pantai Kundor, Kelebang and Ayer Molek.

“We have to accept all these views. Look at which angle they come from.”

“If it comes from the angle of political enemies, it will certainly give a negative view,” he told reporters after launching the Malacca State MARA TVET Higher Education Tour at the Masjid Tanah level, here today.

Commenting further, Ab Rauf, who is also the Tanjung Bidara DUN candidate, is confident that the party’s winning spirit will be able to resolve any problems that arise during the Melaka State Election (PRN) campaign period.

“For me, our ‘winning spirit’ will solve all these problems and we will definitely meet these obstacles. God willing,” he added.

In the 16th Melaka state election, the Kuala Linggi state seat witnessed a three-cornered contest involving Dr Nur Farhana Hamzah (Parti Bersama Malaysia), Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, Mukhlis Mubin, and the incumbent of the seat from BN, Datuk Rosli Abdullah.

In the 2021 Melaka state election, Rosli won the seat with a majority of 1,836 votes after obtaining 3,554 votes.

In Pantai Kundor, BN has fielded Datuk Tuminah Kadi to defend the seat.

Tuminah is being challenged by the United Indigenous Party of Malaysia (Bersatu) candidate, Datin Seri Dr Asmah Samat.

In Kelebang, BN has fielded Melaka MCA Chairman Datuk Lim Ban Hong, who faces a four-cornered fight.

Ban Hong is being challenged by Datuk Seri Mohamad Ali Mohamad (Bersatu), Young Jie Yu (Bersama) and Farzana Hayani Mohd Nasir (PH).

Meanwhile in Ayer Molek, BN is fielding a new candidate, Datuk Mohd Ridhwan Mohd Ali, and PH is represented by Muhammad Hakimin Mokhtar.

The Election Commission (EC) has set November 14 as Polling Day for the 16th Melaka state general election.
