SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan Bersatu leadership body chief Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker confirmed that Port Dickson Bersatu chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, has been dismissed from the party.
He said the dismissal took effect yesterday through a letter issued by the Bersatu disciplinary board.
“It’s true, he was fired… there was a complaint filed against Chegubard, and he was found to have violated the party constitution.
“I cannot disclose the details of the complaint because it has been channeled directly to the party’s Disciplinary Board,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
The Labu State Assemblyman also said that no individual is bigger than the party, and all members are subject to the Bersatu Constitution.
Mohamad Hanifah said that if there is a violation, action can be taken in accordance with party legislation, and he advised any member facing issues at the divisional level or other related issues to use official Bersatu channels.
“As one of the longest-serving individuals in Bersatu in this state, I call on all members to respect the party’s Constitution… when we respect it, the party will become stronger without causing problems that could undermine its stability,” he said.
Previously, Chegubard said the dismissal was announced by the Secretary of the United Disciplinary Board via the WhatsApp application at 6pm yesterday.
Bersatu was hit by internal turmoil between its President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and former Deputy President Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, which led to the Larut MP, who is also the Opposition Leader, being expelled from the party on Feb 13.
Several other leaders were also sacked and suspended from their membership after Hamzah’s ouster, including former Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee and former Wanita chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
