PM Anwar Ibrahim Welcomes New CJ, Stresses Importance of Judicial Integrity

KUALA LUMPUR — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday met the newly appointed Chief Justice Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh at his office in Putrajaya.

“I had the honour of receiving a courtesy call from the new Chief Justice, Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, at my office today.

Our discussion centred on the vital importance of strengthening an independent, credible, and trustworthy judiciary – a key pillar in upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice and fairness in our country.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations on his appointment and pray that he will carry this immense responsibility with wisdom and integrity, for a more just and progressive Malaysia.”

Wan Ahmad Farid, 62, was appointed as Malaysia’s 17th Chief Justice, succeeding Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat.

Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat retired on July 2 after serving in the role.
