AirAsia debuts enhanced cabin crew uniform at KL Fashion Week featuring regional craftsmanship
KUALA LUMPUR, – AirAsia took the stage at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) 2025 today with an enhanced cabin crew uniform incorporating recycled materials designed to deliver improved comfort, fit, and function with a touch of Malaysia-Indonesia regional craftsmanship. At the same event, AirAsia X also introduced its modest uniform variant for select routes such as Jeddah and Medina.
The enhanced uniform features an upgraded fabric blend that includes up to 40 per cent recycled textile materials while offering a softer feel, better flexibility, and ease of movement for long hours on board. Lightweight and easy to care for, the uniform supports crew members in performing their duties with comfort and confidence.
A redesigned handbag was also unveiled, conceptualised by a Malaysian designer, adding a touch of homegrown creativity to the ensemble.
Suhaila Hassan, AirAsia Group Head of Cabin Crew said: “This is not just a change in fabric, it is a change in mindset. Our cabin crew spend most of their time in uniform, and it matters to us that what they wear is not only functional but also reflects the values we stand for. By choosing recycled materials and working with partners who share our environmental and social principles, we are showing that progress is possible, one thread at a time.
“We have always said our people are the heart of the airline. These uniforms are designed with them in mind, comfortable, breathable, and easy to move in. At the same time, they represent something bigger: our growing commitment to doing business responsibly and uplifting the communities we come from. The result is a uniform that speaks to both purpose and pride.”
This year marks a decade of AirAsia’s dynamic partnership with KLFW, a milestone that reflects the airline’s enduring support for Asean talent and innovation. The show opened with a high-energy performance by Malaysian pop group DOLLA, the face of AirAsia’s Asean campaign, followed by a runway moment that celebrated the diversity and spirit of AirAsia’s cabin crew from across the region. As part of the Design to Sustain segment, AirAsia stood alongside local designers, reinforcing its role as more than just a carrier, but a platform that champions creativity, culture, and collaboration across the region.
