YouTuber, three friends were remanded until Friday to help investigate the murder of a lover
BALIK PULAU: Police are completing an investigation paper on a Youtuber and his three friends regarding the incident of the Youtuber’s girlfriend who died in an incident in Teluk Kumbar here last April 2.
Southwest District Police Chief Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal said once completed, the investigation paper is expected to be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office this week for further action.
He said currently four men aged 23 to 28, including Youtuber, were remanded for five days until Friday to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
“So far, there have been no new arrests. Their remand since April 3 and 4 ended yesterday but the police have applied for a remand extension as further investigations are still underway,” he said when contacted today.
Last week, the media reported that a 20 -year -old woman suffered serious injuries believed to have been beaten by her boyfriend before the victim died and the incident occurred after the couple had an argument suspected to be motivated by jealousy.
The victim, who is understood to be from Melaka, and her boyfriend have been staying at their friend’s rented house since arriving in the state on March 27 for a video on their YouTube site.
Meanwhile, in Seberang Perai, North Seberang Perai District Police Chief ACP Mohd Radzi Ahmad said his department was conducting further investigations into the allegation that one of its members accepted bribes from a man in Jalan Bagan Ajam, here like a video that was spread since yesterday.
Mohd Radzi said the one -minute and one -second video had spread through the TikTok social media site since yesterday and based on the initial investigation, the incident happened near a bank in the area.
“I confirmed that we (police) received a police report from a man about the incident at the Simpang Ampat Police Station, near here last Monday.
“Further investigations are underway under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion and I will not compromise with any officer or member if involved in corrupt misconduct,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, a video showed a man holding a banknote believed to be RM200 in a car before he went down to hand over the money to a policeman who was waiting in a police patrol car.
