‘You’re next’: Because of support for Salman Rushdie, JK Rowling received death threats

AUTHOR JK Rowling has reportedly received death threats for a tweet condemning the attack on Salman Rushdie on Friday.

Rowling, 57, shared a screenshot of the threatening message on Twitter.

The Harry Potter author had previously denounced the incident involving Rushdie with one cheek and hoped the novel’s author would recover.

But one user later left a comment reading: “Don’t worry. You (are) next.”

The owner of the Twitter account that issued the death threats also praised Hadi Matar, the New Jersey man who stabbed Rusdhie at an event in western New York on Friday.

Rushdie is reportedly showing a positive response to being off the ventilator and may be able to speak.

When Matar was brought to court, however, he pleaded not guilty to the charge of stabbing the controversial writer 10 times.

The incident was condemned by writers and politicians around the world who described it as an attack on freedom of speech.
