PETALING JAYA: Nasyid singer and composer, Muhammad Yasin Sulaiman hopes that Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim can improve outdated laws that do not conform to development and civilization, including cases under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
When met after the proceedings of his drug case at the Sessions Court here on Thursday, the Mimpi Laila singer said that Anwar, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, must understand the situation better since he has had to deal with such laws.
“It is not too late for me to congratulate him on his appointment as Prime Minister.
“He has gone through a terrible struggle but with the power of God, he was finally appointed as our leader,” he said.
Following that, Muhammad Yasin who appeared in court wearing a long-sleeved white T-shirt said, with the permission of the Almighty, he will be given due justice.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Yasin who was represented by lawyer, Ariff Azami Hussein said, the defense team remains optimistic with the representation because it is based on humanitarianism and health will be given due consideration.
He, who was also represented by lawyer Mohd Yusmadi Mohd Yusoff, said that the representation sent two months ago was very complete because it included aspects of his client’s health.
“It is supported by a report by an expert along with three other reports, so it is appropriate that it be given the best possible consideration because justice cannot be delayed, instead it should be done now,” he said.
Meanwhile, during the proceedings, Judge Nik Nasimah Nik Mohammad fixed January 11 next year for the pronouncement of the decision of the representation presented by Muhammad Yasin.
It was after Ariff Azami told the court that the defense had sent a representation to the Attorney General’s Office (AGC) on September 23.
