World leaders, celebrities and football fans mourn Pele’s passing

THE PASSING of football legend Pele on Thursday received a sad reaction from fans, leaders and even celebrities around the world.

Among the first to speak was the former President of the United States Barack Obama.

“Pelé is one of the greatest to ever play the beautiful game.

“And as one of the most recognizable athletes in the world, the late understood the power of sport to bring people together.

“Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family of the deceased and to all who loved and admired him,” Obama wrote.

Former sprinter Usain Bolt also sent his condolences to the deceased.

“Sporting legend. Rest in peace, King Pele,” Bolt wrote.

The England national team in its tweet also praised Pele’s greatness and expressed the words of the football legend who will always be remembered.

“One of the best adorns the beautiful game.

“Farewell, Pelé. You will never be forgotten,” the tweet read.

Among the football players also did not miss the opportunity to express their condolences for the world famous football player this morning, among them Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
