Wild party: 25 individuals including Datuk Seri arrested in Janda Baik

BENTONG: A total of 25 individuals, including a man with the title of Datuk Seri believed to be the organizer of a wild party, were arrested at a bungalow in Janda Baik, Bentong early Thursday morning.

According to the Bentong District Police Chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, all those arrested consisted of 17 local citizens and 8 foreigners.

“On 11 August 2022, at approximately 1.00 am, acting on information from the public, a police team from the Bentong District Police Headquarters (IPD) raided a rented bungalow located in the Janda Baik area, Bentong, Pahang.

“During the raid and inspection, the police found and confiscated drugs believed to be ketamine weighing 2.18 grams and ecstacy pills weighing 1.43 grams with an estimated total of RM800,” he explained in a media statement today.

All those arrested consisted of 15 men and 10 women aged between 18 and 64 years.

Urine screening tests found all of them positive for methamphetamine.

All the suspects were remanded for four days until next August 14 to assist the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which can carry a prison sentence of not more than five years or a fine of not more than RM100,000 or both.

While under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, they can be sentenced to a maximum of two years imprisonment or a fine of not more than RM5,000.

“I strongly warn that there will be no compromise in dealing with the drug issue in Bentong District and will take decisive action,” he explained.

He also expressed his appreciation to the public who had channeled information so that the activity was successfully sniffed out by the authorities.
