Wild party: 11 foreigners including 7 women partying on drugs arrested

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The preoccupation of a group of foreigners having a ‘drug’ party at a condominium in Bukit Tengah, here came to a halt after the premises were raided by the police last Thursday.

Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief (SPT) Assistant Commissioner Tan Cheng San said a total of 11 foreigners consisting of six Vietnamese women, one Chinese national and four Chinese men were arrested in the raid at 12.30 midnight.

Cheng San said that the activities were revealed after the police received a complaint about the suspicious activities of a group of foreigners renting in the condominium.

During the inspection, the police found three plastic packages containing powder believed to be methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) weighing 117 grams (g) and a glass jug containing the drug liquid that had been brewed.

He said the total drug seizure was estimated to be worth RM6,713 and the arrests did not involve local citizens.

“We managed to arrest four Chinese men, one Chinese woman and six Vietnamese between the ages of 18 and 54.

“During the raid, we managed to find 117 grams of MDMA-type drugs, a glass jug filled with drug liquid and 2.42 grams of ketamine worth RM363,” he said.

He said this at a press conference at the Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Headquarters (IPD), Bukit Mertajam on Monday.

Commenting further, Cheng San said that the Chinese female suspect believed to be running an online business had rented the condominium, and the investigation found that the suspect had been living in the country for 14 years.

In addition, the investigation also found that most of the arrested suspects do not have permanent jobs and the majority of them entered the country using tourist visas.

According to Cheng San, there are also suspects who are believed to have married local people or brought into the country through a boyfriend who is believed by local people to be a mistress.

The results of the urine screening test on all the suspects found that only two were positive for drugs.

All the arrestees have no previous records related to drug and criminal cases.

At the same time, Cheng San said, the police also conducted another investigation due to the fact that there were other elements in the condominium where the suspect might be involved in ‘call center’ fraudulent activities .

All those arrested are now remanded for seven days starting last Thursday until this Wednesday and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
