Two entertainment centers in Bangsar were raided

KUALA LUMPUR: Two individuals were arrested in separate raids at two entertainment centers in Jalan Telawi 5, Bangsar here on Saturday.

Brickfields District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the first raid was carried out at about 12.15am while the second raid was carried out at about 12.23am.

“The first raid succeeded in detaining a 19 -year -old local man acting as caretaker of the premises and a total of 15 customers comprising nine men and six women were checked.

“The second raid has arrested a 35 -year -old man acting as caretaker of the premises and a total of 22 local customers comprising 21 men and one woman have been checked,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

He said the raid was carried out and also confiscated equipment used at the two entertainment centers.

“The first raid seized two pieces of business receipts, six bottles of liquor, a DJ performance controller, a microphone unit and a loudspeaker.

“The second raid carried out had seized two pieces of business receipts, seven bottles of liquor, a tablet and a loudspeaker,” he said.

According to him, the two raids were carried out under Section 4 of the Federal Territory Entertainment Act 1952 and Section 76 of the Excise Act 1976.

“The public is advised not to get involved in any entertainment center activities and must abide by the rules set by the National Security Council in ensuring that communicable diseases in the country can be fully controlled.

“Any violation of rules or laws can be subject to stern action,” he said.
