SAN FRANCISCO: Twitter has laid off more than 6,000 workers, around 80 percent of its workforce, since the end of last year, CEO Elon Musk said in an interview with the BBC on Tuesday.

Twitter’s workforce reductions do not match other big tech companies in terms of percentages such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Meta which have cut tens of thousands of jobs worldwide.

Twitter is facing multiple lawsuits from former employees over layoffs and benefits, Xinhua cited a San Francisco Chronicle report.

The company claimed in a recent ‘ legal filing ‘ that “Twitter, Inc has been merged into X Corp and no longer exists”.

Based on the ‘ legal filing ‘, X Corp is a privately owned company.

Its parent company is X Holdings Corp.
