Trump arrives in New York for impeachment
NEW YORK: Former President of the United States (US) Donald Trump arrived in New York on Monday evening to face a criminal trial, Anadolu Agency reported.
A jury in Manhattan indicted Trump on charges related to paying “hush money” to “pornographic” actress Stormy Daniels.
The former president is not expected to be handcuffed, according to his lawyer Joe Tacopina.
“We will go to the courtroom, we will meet the judge, plead not guilty…,” said Tacopina.
Trump is expected to return to Florida afterward.
He is the first former US president to be indicted on criminal charges in US national history and described the charges against him as “political persecution.”
Trump faces more than 30 charges.
