
“Tina Turner’s spirit was so strong, she fought until the end of her life” – Cher
AS an acquaintance, nothing was more important to the world legendary singer, Cher than spending time with Tina Turner when her friend was fighting to continue living due to the disease she suffered from.
Revealing the experience of spending time with the late Turner who died on Wednesday, Cher said what she admired about her comrade in arms was that she had a strong enough spirit to overcome the suffering.
“She has been fighting this disease for a long time and she is as strong as you can imagine.
“And at the end, she told me she was really ready. She couldn’t take it anymore (pain),” said Cher in an interview with MSNBC news channel .
Although not mentioning the illness suffered by Turner, however, Cher shared that there was a dialysis machine at the home of the late world-famous singer when she visited.
According to Cher again, Turner was very happy to receive a visit from her friends.
“I started visiting her because I thought I should take this time for our friendship, so she knows we haven’t forgotten her,'” Cher recalled.
“So we all took turns going and spending time with her and that made her happy.”
In fact, during the meeting, Cher revealed that she and the late Turner often laughed.
“She (Turner) spent a very special time (when with friends) despite the fact that she was really sick and didn’t want others to know about her pain,” explained Cher.
Cher also shared that she has known Turner since her best friend married Ike Turner.
At the last meeting when visiting Turner at her residence in Switzerland, Cher returned with a special gift given by her friend.
“She gave me a pair of shoes the last time we met,” Cher said.
“What kind of shoes?” asked the news anchor.
“Tina Turner’s shoes!” replied Cher.
On Rabyu, Turner, who is also a world rock and roll star, breathed her last at the age of 83 at her home in Zurich, Switzerland.
The ever-fresh veteran singer who is very famous for his hit What’s Love Got To Do With It has been a Swiss citizen for the past decade.
Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock in Tennessee, United States (US) and spent her last years on a 260,000 square foot estate in Lake Zurich.
Turner achieved stardom in her 40s when she remained in the top concert charts at the time.
During his lifetime, Turner managed to sell 150 million albums worldwide, won 12 Grammy awards and was honored at the Kennedy Center in 2005.
The singer once caused controversy by revealing the story of her marriage with ex-husband Ike Turner due to physical and mental abuse that resulted in bankruptcy.
Turner however managed to get back up and achieve success despite her advanced age.
