There is no way back to Hollywood for Amber Heard – Public relations expert

ACTRESS Amber Heard faces the risk of career and financial ruin after losing a defamation suit against her ex -husband, actor Johnny Depp, which cost her US $ 8.35 million (RM36.6 million).

Public relations experts said there was ‘no way back for Heard in Hollywood’, adding that the dramatic six -week court hearing raised questions about her career and financial situation, including possible loss of income of up to $ 50 million.

In terms of her career, studio owners in Hollywood are expected to find it difficult to consider giving her a lead role in the future.

Heard may also now be struggling to settle various financial commitments, including to activist groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

The damages Heard had to pay may also force her to sell assets, including a US $ 570,000 (RM2.5 million) ‘hideout’ in the Yucca Valley, and a Range Rover acquired after a divorce with Depp.

Attorney Sandra Spurgeon suggested one possibility Heard could have hoped for was that Depp set aside damages or negotiate a lower amount.

“It all depends on Depp. For individuals who don’t have the ability to pay costs and don’t have the ability to send bonds, then there’s an issue if the winning party intends to proceed with the judgment,” she told CBS MoneyWatch .

“There’s no way back for Heard in Hollywood. If you were making a film or were planning to make the film, would you take it to acting?
“Just look at the massive protests against Aquaman 2 (where the petition to get rid of Heard has now reached 4 million). The trial tarnishes the marketing or PR strategy for launching the film,” said public relations expert Mark Borkowski.

Heard comes from a conservative Christian family from Texas with modest wealth. At age 17, she quit school to start a modeling career in New York, before moving into acting in Los Angeles.

Heard’s net worth is uncertain, but Fox Business reports it as US$8 million (RM35 million).

Heard’s finances were questioned after she made several claims to support her lifestyle, following a divorce with the Pirates of the Carribean actor.

Among them, she asked for ‘exclusive use and ownership’ of the black Range Rover she was driving, and Depp reportedly still made payments for the vehicle.

After a six -week trial, the Circuit Court in Fairfax Country on Thursday ruled the Depp actor was paid US $ 15 million (RM65.7 million) in damages.
