The younger generation needs to know the importance of public relations – Ras Adiba
KUALA LUMPUR: The younger generation needs to be given a deep understanding of the importance of public relations to ensure they are sensitive to the ethics of interaction with the community.
Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi said with the presence of social media such as TikTok, many young generations think that public relations knowledge is no longer needed in controlling and dealing with the public’s perception of their actions.
“Actually it (public relations) is important because sometimes there are people who speak and do things without having time to think. So it is the public relations team that often have to come forward to help (resolve a crisis),” she said.
Ras Adiba who is also the Chairman of the Malaysian National News Organization (Bernama) was met by the media after the launch of the book ‘Women In Public Relations: Reflections Of Pioneer Malaysian Trailblazers’ in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM) here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, IPRM President Datuk Seri Ibrahim Abdul Rahman said the book will be a reference for the next generation on the work of experts in dealing with crises as well as building a core to gain the confidence of the government and the community in various matters.
The book was produced by two IPRM council members namely Prof Dr Kiranjit Kaur and Doris Lim and Dr Shameem Abdul Jalil who is a certified member of IPRM.
