The young generation needs to prepare themselves with knowledge and skills in the field of technology development

KUALA LUMPUR: The young generation who want to venture into the technology development industry are advised to prepare themselves with knowledge and related technology in addition to having a deep interest in what they do, said Mazer Fintech Sdn Bhd Chief Operating Officer Mamed Fudarizi.

In addition, he said, the need to find the best mentors to provide comprehensive exposure to the technology development industry also needs to be emphasized.

“When we are in this field, especially for start-up companies, one of the challenges we will face is criticism from around us regarding the technology we develop.

“So, with exposure from mentors and knowledge about a certain technology, we are able to face the upcoming ‘onak duri’,” he told Bernama.

According to him, this industry player also needs to understand about a system that is introduced and its purpose.

“If we fail to understand what we cannot solve, it will be difficult for us to do business,” he said.

Mazer Fintech, which was established in 2019, has developed a financial technology platform known as JomSETEL that provides services for credit card users to make payments or receive payments without the need for a credit card terminal, website or ‘payment gateway’ (payment gate).

Mamed Fudarizi said the platform, which has been on the market since February 2021, provides space for credit card users to make transaction payments or business overhead costs such as rent, supplier invoices and so on.

“While for entrepreneurs, this platform helps them manage business cash flow more efficiently,” he said, adding that JomSETEL is the first platform in Malaysia to provide such a service.

Accordingly, he also invited the younger generation to join the company which currently needs the services of more local workforce in areas such as data scientists, designers, robotic automation and engineers.

Meanwhile Mamed Fudarizi said that Mazer Fintech would not have been able to grow to this level without the support and encouragement from the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC).

“MTDC not only provides guidance, financial assistance facilities to start-up companies but also motivation, such as what needs to be done before, during and after and how the allocation of funds given can be best utilized.

“The role played by MTDC has a great impact on the journey of JomSETTLE and our company,” he said.

Going forward, he said, Mazer Fintech has several core visions that it wants to promote in the next few years including changing the perception and spending behavior among credit card holders.

“In addition, we also want to help and empower gig workers in offering credit card facilities to them by providing several solutions including e-invoicing and virtual credit,” he said.
