The water theme park in Bertam was ordered to close temporarily due to operating without a license

KEPALA BATAS: The Bertam Water Theme Park Resort & Water Park in Kepala Batas, which was only opened to the public last December 15, has been ordered to close temporarily starting today.

The closure order was made by the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) after finding that the premises were believed to be operating without an entertainment license for water theme park activities.

MBSP in a statement on Wednesday informed that it has conducted several inspections starting on December 16 with the last time on December 27.

“The MBSP found that the theme park was operating without a license and issued a notice for the management to stop the entertainment activities of the water theme park under the Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 1998.

“However, it was found that the management still failed to comply with the instructions, causing a closure action to be taken at around 9.40am today,” according to the statement.

Earlier, a 58-second video recording of visitors gathered in front of the theme park entrance went viral.

It was also seen that some MBSP enforcers were pasting closure notices on the premises.

The average visitor who came to the theme park in conjunction with the school holidays was disappointed by the action.

The theme park worth RM90 million was reported to have started operating on December 15 after being delayed for a long time due to several problems including the COVID-19 pandemic.
