KUALA TERENGGANU: A detailed investigation will be carried out on the ceremony themed “Arabian Dangdut Night” which featured a video of an individual singing a man believed to be a man resembling a woman dressed sexy at the ceremony spread on social media.
State Human Development, Dakwah and Information Committee chairman Mohd Nor Hamzah said the investigation would be carried out by the Terengganu Religious Affairs Department.
“The investigation is in relation to the violation of the Terengganu State Guidelines on Entertainment, Cultural Performances, Tourism and Sports which was first introduced in 2020,” he said after making a mahabbah visit at a hotel here today.
The 25 -second video showing the individual’s song on March 25 was criticized by angry netizens because it happened just a few days before Muslims celebrated Ramadan.
Mohd Nor said the state government was very sensitive to such things that offended Muslims and hoped it would be a lesson for all parties, especially hotel management in Terengganu to be more careful in the future.
