The veteran actor pleaded not guilty to spitting on the personal assistant

TAIPING: Famous actress, Mak Wan Latah was brought before the Taiping Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of spitting on her personal assistant, last month.

Mak Wan or her real name is Halimatussa’diah Mohd. Daud, 61, however pleaded not guilty after the charges against her were read before Magistrate Nur’Atiqah Sapari.

According to the charge sheet, Mak Wan is accused of intentionally spitting on Nurul Amalina Mohamad Kamal, 28, with the aim of inciting anger to disturb the peace in Lorong Haji Wahab, Kampung Titi Kasai Batu Kurau at 7pm, 24 June.

The veteran actor was charged under Section 14 of the Minor Offenses Act 1955 which carries a maximum fine of RM100, if convicted.
The court allowed the accused to be bailed at RM1,000 with one surety and the case was mentioned again on 5 September 2022 for the submission of documents and the appointment of a lawyer.

The accused paid the bail.

The prosecution was handled by the Prosecuting Officer, Inspector Khoo Thean Heng while the accused was represented by a lawyer, T. Selvadoray from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK).

The conflict between the drama actress and her former personal assistant known as Amell gained public attention since last June following the woman’s exposure through several videos about Mak Wan on her TikTok account.

Through the video, the actress is accused of being hot-tempered.

The case dragged on when the veteran actress claimed to be the victim of Amell’s beating which was said to involve money issues.

The actor’s former assistant, however, reportedly said that she acted this way after Mak Wan spat at her when she asked a question that the accused could not accept.
