The title of King of Pop belongs only to Michael Jackson, no one else – Nephew
THE late Michael Jackson’s nephew, Taj, is not happy that singer Harry Styles has been dubbed the ‘new King of Pop’ by Rolling Stone UK magazine.
The world famous star’s family and rights holders have trademarked the phrase ‘King Of Pop’ which was labeled to Michael during his lifetime and after his death.
“There is no new King of Pop. The title is not yours Rolling Stone, you did not earn it.
“My uncle earned it through decades of effort, dedication and sacrifice. The title can no longer be used,” Taj said in a tweet.
Taj, 49, is the son of Tito Jackson who is also Michael’s younger brother.
In the same speech, Taj said, he still respects the talent of Styles, who is a former member of the One Direction group.
“I respect Harry Styles, he’s so talented. Give him another title of his own,” he wrote.
Michael’s family is fiercely protective of the phrase ‘King of Pop’ and even sued a small popcorn company for using ‘KingOfPop.com’ as their website address.
Those who try to open the KingOfPop.com URL will be taken to Michael Jackson’s official website.
