The third batch of Meta henchmen dismissals is next week
WASHINGTON: US-based technology company Meta will begin another round of layoffs next week, after terminations in recent months, Sputnik cited a Vox report on Friday.
“The third wave will happen next week,” Meta’s president of Global Affairs, Nick Clegg, reportedly said during the company’s general meeting on Thursday.
In March, Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg announced the service’s expected termination in late April and May.
Meta is expected to reduce the size of its team by about 10,000 people, in addition to closing 5,000 unfilled positions, Zuckerberg said.
The layoffs will continue as in April, where 4,000 workers were made redundant, Clegg said during the meeting.
The termination of the service is part of Meta’s “Year of Efficiency” announced by Zuckerberg.
The initiative aims to improve financial performance to implement the company’s long-term vision, he said.
Meta products include the social media platforms Facebook and Instagram, as well as the messaging app WhatsApp.
