The story of Tas Tepeler, a network of Neolithic human civilization sites in Turkiye, 9.30 tonight.
KUALA LUMPUR: So far, we have generally thought that the people of the Stone Age lived a nomadic life and their survival was based on hunting or ‘ hunter-gatherer ‘ in the English term.
However, all those notions changed when the world’s oldest human social activity site was discovered in Gobeklitepe, a hill in the middle of the desert in southeast Turkiye.
The discovery of the monument from the Neolithic period thus rewrote the narrative of human civilization, telling that humans have been living in a community with an organized social system since 12,000 years ago, at least in the region where Anatolia meets Mesopotamia.
Following its discovery for the first time in 1963 before being explored further starting in the mid-90s, another 12 archaeological sites were found in the vicinity that were found from the same period.
Then efforts were intensified to uncover everything buried in it through a project called Tas Tepeler.
In conjunction with International Tourism Day today, make sure you’re on channel 501, astroawani.com and Astro AWANI ‘s YouTube channel as we fly you to Sanliurfa, Turkiye to highlight what is considered the greatest archaeological discovery of this century.
