The scene of extreme is not sensitive to the culture of decency, morality of Malaysians
KUALA LUMPUR: A video of an outrageous scene in a drama series to be aired on a private television channel, which was uploaded on the Twitter portal by a local actor recently, is seen as insensitive to the culture of decency and morality practiced by Malaysians.
Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (Finas) chief executive officer Prof Md Nasir Ibrahim in a statement on Wednesday said any such filming should not happen and Finas took the issue seriously.
“Finas would like to emphasize that the enforcement of film and television content censorship in the country is not under the jurisdiction of Finas, but as the body responsible for the issuance of local film production licenses, Finas will take appropriate action based on the Malaysian National Film Development Corporation Licensing Regulations (1983) , Regulation 6 (2).
“Finas can revoke a license if the licensee has been convicted of an offense in respect of dishonesty, fraud or moral turpitude,” he said.
Md Nasir said as the leading body in the country’s film industry, Finas called on creative industry players to be more careful in producing works.
