The sauna room in KLCC caught fire, no one was injured
KUALA LUMPUR: A sauna room at Menara 3 Suria KLCC reportedly caught fire this afternoon.
According to Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer (PBK) II, Mohd Rozihafizam Othman, the Kuala Lumpur Operations Center received an emergency call at 5.21pm regarding the incident.
He said, the operational team from the Jalan Tun Razak Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) and assistance vehicles from BBP Titiwangsa with a strength of 13 members and two FRT vehicles were directed to the scene of the incident.
“When the fire brigade arrived at the scene of the incident, it was found that there was a fire in a sauna room measuring 7 x 12 square feet which was on the G floor of Menara 3 Suria KLCC.
“The fire was completely extinguished nine minutes later. The destruction of the fire is estimated at 80 percent,” he said in the statement, today.
Mohd Rozihafizam explained that the incident did not involve any victims and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Earlier, it went viral on social media that workers at the Petronas Towers 3 KLCC were ordered out of the building.
A seven-second video shared on Twitter shows a group of individuals outside the tower.
One of the Twitter users, House of Murraly , also claimed that the fire was believed to have happened in one of the shops at the Suria KLCC shopping centre.
He said that access to enter the Suria KLCC building is currently open through the Ampang Entrance.
Meanwhile, several other netizens claimed that the elevator service in the KLCC building was not working, believed to be due to interference.
