The RM700 million Shah Alam Stadium is illogical – TMJ

OWNER of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim described the cost of RM700 million for the reconstruction of the Shah Alam Stadium as illogical.

On the other hand, Tunku Ismail said, the technology that will be used in the stadium is very sophisticated and requires at least RM2 billion to complete it.

“SSI (Sultan Ibrahim Stadium) is only RM400 million. This stadium (Shah Alam Stadium) is at least RM2 billion because it has high technology. RM700 million is more illogical,” he said in a comment on his Instagram page.

Previously, Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that RM787 million had been allocated to build a new stadium to replace the Shah Alam Stadium.

The new Shah Alam stadium concept has been introduced to the public which is expected to be able to accommodate a capacity of 35,000 to 45,000 seats in a certain time.

The stadium, which is expected to be completed in 2026, is equipped with an electronic scoreboard, disabled-friendly concourse, corporate space and dressing room.

In addition, the stadium is equipped with internal humidity control, ‘ETFE ceramic coating’ and a seat cooling system in addition to having ‘retractable pitch’ technology which changes from sports mode to indoor events.
