The price of museum tickets in Melaka did not affect the efforts to attract visitors
MELAKA: The increase in ticket prices to five museums in Melaka will not hamper efforts to attract at least 500,000 visitors to the state this year.
Chairman of the state Museum Corporation, Datuk Akramuddin Abdul Aziz said, the increase of 60 to 100 percent has been studied and it coincides with the improvements that will be implemented to ensure the museum remains relevant as a destination to visit in Melaka.
“The price increase from RM6 to RM10 to cover the increasing management costs apart from several strategies will be realized in promoting the existing museums.
“This includes efforts to exchange artifacts in the state museum with other state museums on loan for the added value of the tourist location.
“Artifacts in Melaka will be loaned to museums in other states and artifacts in other states will be brought into Melaka
“We will also try to bring the country’s cruise ship, Datuk Azhar Mansor here as a valuable artifact that needs to be displayed,” he said in a press conference here, on Thursday.
Akramuddin added that he hoped the public would see the ticket price increase from a positive angle.
