The ‘oppa’ pilot attracts attention at LIMA’23
LANGKAWI: The performance of the Black Eagles aerobatic team from South Korea is definitely one of the things visitors are looking forward to at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA23).
The atmosphere became tense as the nine pilots entered the runway with cheers and chants of ‘saranghae’ which means ‘I love you’, as if they were K-pop artists or famous South Korean actors.
The head of the Republic of Korea Air Force, Major Eunho Yang, when met said, they are grateful for the strong support from Malaysians.
He said, he and his friends became more enthusiastic and amazed when they saw many people who cheered and supported them when they did the air show.
“We are happy and grateful to have the support of Malaysians. We hope to continue to have the opportunity to do air shows in Malaysia again,” he said.
He said, they had done hard training operating eight KAI T-50B Golden Eagle light combat aircraft by doing 24 different formations.
Eunho also expressed his excitement when he was able to fly in Langkawi’s airspace which has a view surrounded by beautiful seas and mountains.
According to the pilot who participated in this prestigious event for the first time, he hopes that the military ties between Malaysia and South Korea can be further strengthened in the future.
The amazing action of the Black Eagles featuring the main formation of ‘Taeguk’, which is the South Korean flag through the use of smoke from the aircraft involved, became one of the things that the public was waiting for in conjunction with LIMA’23.
The debut appearance of the aerobatic team “Black Eagles” of the Republic Of Korean Air Force (ROKAF) was in 2017 through the participation of eight T-50B Golden Eagle training aircraft developed by KAI.
