The movie ‘The Batman’ was restarted due to technical problems, not the VIP arriving late – TGV
KUALA LUMPUR: After being criticized following reports claiming that The Batman movie was re-screened due to VIPs arriving late, the operator of the Tanjung Golden Village Cinemas (TGV) cinema chain came forward to explain the real situation.
In a statement, TGV said the film had to be restarted not due to VIP delays but due to technical problems.
TGV stated that it had conducted a detailed investigation into the incident and found that technical issues in the IMAX hall at TGV Vivacity made it necessary to repeat the show.
“The delay in the screening session was due to technical issues in our IMAX hall, and not due to the late arrival of VIPs as incorrectly reported through some media.
“At TGV, we respect and treat all our guests equally with priority.
“We would like to assure everyone that the decision to restart the film was not influenced by the VIP delay and we apologize for any inconvenience that may have arisen,” the statement said.
TGV also informed that although the technical issues had been corrected, there were communication problems between employees to allow the 7.15pm show to start on time.
“It caused the show at 7.15 pm to be postponed. By that time, 20 per cent of the audience had already entered the hall while the remaining 80 per cent were still waiting in the foyer and entered after the show started.
“We admit the decision to quit and restart the film is inconvenient for our customers.
“As stated in our initial statement, this is not our screening policy. We assure that we are taking appropriate measures to ensure that this incident does not recur, ”he said.
In addition, as a token of apology, TGV is also offering two free tickets and a full refund to affected customers.
Earlier, there were complaints claiming that the screening of The Batman movie at TGV Vivacity on March 5 was resumed after 45 minutes due to some VIPs arriving late.
TGV also through an initial statement appeared to apologize to its customers following a complaint that the movie ‘The Batman’ had to be replayed from the beginning due to the delay of dignitaries (VIPs) after 45 minutes of watching.
