The most beautiful recognition for over 50 years in the art world – Hail Amir
KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer and actor of the 70s Hail Amir described the conferment of the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) degree to him, which carries the title of Datuk, as a beautiful recognition for more than 50 years of enslavement in the art world of the country.
He who is popular with the song “Wajah Kesayangan Hamba” said the gift was an appreciation and wanted to share the joy with his loyal fans all this time.
“I am very touched by this award. I would like to thank all those who still remember and love this man named Hail Amir,” he told Bernama here today.
Hail’s artistic career began as a cultural dancer at the Cultural Body under the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the early 70s.
He was then offered the lead role in his first film “Jiwa Remaja” alongside Uji Rashid and Datuk Yusof Haslam. Among the other films he has acted in are “Waiting for Tomorrow”, “Western Storm” and “Anita’s Magic World”.
His talent in the field of voice art was detected by the famous composer Datuk Ahmad Nawab until the birth of the popular song “Wajah Kesayangan Hamba”.
The father of four from Penang is still active in fulfilling the singing invitation.
Throughout his involvement in the art world, Hail has produced 12 albums besides being famous for singing with his duet partner, Uji Rashid.
Among the popular songs of the duet couple are “Menunggu Nasi Minyak”, “Antara Matamu dan Mataku”, “Asmara Bergelora” and “Seloka Hari Raya”.
At the ceremony at Istana Negara this morning, Hail along with 58 other individuals received the PMW honorary degree bearing the title of “Datuk” in conjunction with the 2022 Federal Territory Order, Star and Medal Presentation Ceremony and Awarding Ceremony.
Also receiving PNW were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Idris Ahmad, national paralympic long jump athlete Abdul Latif Romly and former national diver Leong Mun Yee.
