KUALA LUMPUR: Realizing that the country’s glorious past history needs to be highlighted globally, bzBee Consult Sdn Bhd, an integrated strategic communication and content creation agency, is pioneering a new venture in the world of publishing.

With the support of the DC3+ Grant from the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), bzBee intends to bring the version of the Malay heroine, Tun Fatimah, to the digital screen.

In the work later, said bzBee, the dexterity of important figures in continuing the legacy of Melaka after the Portuguese invasion in the early 16th century will be the core of the story.

According to the founder and Managing Director of bzBee, Prof Mohd Said Bani CM Din, it is the company’s aspiration to highlight the legendary story on the international stage.

He said, the time has come for Malaysia to display various local stories for the world to see “Tun Fatimah: The Rebel Queen is an important story to raise awareness and preserve the heritage of the saga,” said Mohd Said Bani in a media statement issued.

According to him, the script was adapted from the novel ‘Kirana – Dream After The Rose’ produced by the Chief Operating Officer of bzBee, Ninot Aziz.

Based on the novel, bzBee, said Mohd Said Bani, takes a different approach in telling the story of Tun Fatimah, the last Queen of Melaka in the 16th century, and Malacca today, in addition to producing a ‘breakthrough’ film.

Meanwhile, Ninot said, Tun Fatimah’s manuscript: The Rebel Queen empowers a steadfast female figure in Malaysian history and highlights the values, culture and heritage of Malacca in the 16th century.

“As a storyteller, the opportunity to explore the digital realm in the form of computer generated images (CGI) is a very unique experience.

“Hikayat, legends and folktales are the storehouses of various knowledge ranging from governance, protocol, diplomacy, architecture, shipbuilding, weaponry and textiles to medical practices, literature, entertainment, music, dance, wisdom and creative thinking – proof that Our old society has ideas and creativity with a high scientific concept,” said Ninot.

Mohd Said Bani together with Azlina Merican as Executive Producer and Ninot, worked on this idea for over three years as part of bzBee’s efforts, love and belief in the importance of culture and heritage.

Said Mohd Said Bani, this plan was finally achieved with the support of a grant from MDEC.

The short film Tun Fatimah: The Rebel Queen is a collaboration between bzBee and Nur Hussein from Langit Terang Productions.

The work will be led by the famous director, Bade Hj Azmi while the script is the result of the combined creativity of Mohd Said Bani, Ninot and script writer, Nadia Khan who refined the beauty of the Malay language in the 16th century.

“A unique component in the narration of this film is the use of CGI for an idealistic depiction of the world of Melaka in the 16th century.

“The DC3+ grant awarded by MDEC encourages the creation of digital content and plays an important role in supporting the use of CGI in film production,” explained Mohd Said Bani.

He also informed that digital artist Walid Muhamad and 3D artist, Faizal Rahmat, are responsible for building the art concept of this film.

He said, the use of CGI creates an immersive experience for the audience in addition to taking the audience back to Melaka in the 16th century.

The main actress of this film is Yna Rose Noah who plays the role of Tun Fatimah, who recently won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Eastern European International Awards for her role as Kirana in the movie ‘Showtime 1958’.

Meanwhile, the other actors are Naim Shamsol as Nadim, Niezam Zaidi (Sultan Mahmud Shah) and Jimmy Leong (Uncle Wong).

The script will also be supported by musical arrangements from Taja Mustapha.

Harapan Mohd Said Bani, the publication of Tun Fatimah’s work: The Rebel Queen will encourage a deeper community appreciation of the saga, by using digital content, to create the world of the past.
