AFTER two years of not being held on a large scale to control the spread of COVID-19, the launch of the 2022 National Month and the Flying of the Jalur Gemilang 2022 will be held here tomorrow with the participation of various levels of the Malaysian Family.

The launching ceremony of the National Month and the Flying of the Jalur Gemilang 2022 with the theme ‘Malaysian Family Strong Together’ at Putrajaya Square will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob .

Among the attractions in conjunction with the launch is the performance of five traditional dances that translate the diversity of races in this country accompanied by the Malaysian Family song by the Information Department’s Pentarama.

Also held in conjunction with the launch of the 2022 National Month and Waving the Jalur Gemilang 2022 is the Strong Walk Together program which is a walking activity that will be attended by the Minister of Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

The Strong Walk Together program will start from Dataran Putra to the Palace of Justice here, with an estimated 10,000 Malaysian families participating.

Street performances including street entertainment, bands and traditional performances will greet the participants of Berjalan Teguh Bersama at each check point or checkpoint set along the 2.7 kilometer route.

The program with the concept of leisurely walking together with the family carries the message of the spirit of unity and togetherness of Malaysians is one of the initiatives to support the aspirations of the Malaysian Family.

In order to fuel the spirit of patriotism, the prime minister will also release the 2022 Malaysian Family Independence Day convoy.

Annuar had previously said that he wanted this year’s National Day to be celebrated with reforms involving participation at the community and family level so that the theme and concept of the celebration ‘A Strong Malaysian Family Together’ could be fully embraced.

He who is the Chairman of the National Day Celebration and Malaysia Day 2022 Parent Committee said this is important because the celebration should not only be a big ceremony held at the national level, but rather it needs to highlight the way each family or community from various backgrounds celebrates the country’s historic day.

The launch of the National Month and the Jalur Gemilang flag in 2020 was held modestly at Dataran Perdana, Perdana Putra here with limited attendance to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Recovery Movement Control Order (MCO).

Last year, the launch was only held online since the country was then in the National Recovery Plan to control the spread of COVID-19, no physical celebration event was held.

The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia announced that three main activities will be held to fuel the celebration of the National Month this year.

It includes the launch of National Month and the Flying of the Jalur Gemilang in Putrajaya, the National Day Celebration on 31 August at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysia Day Celebration on 16 September in Malacca.

In addition, various national programs and competitions have been organized to foster and instill the spirit of patriotism and love of country among Malaysian Families.

Among them are the ILHAM Merdeka TikTok Challenge Competition, the KLIK@Merdeka Competition, the Smule Star Competition, the Patriotic Star Competition, the MYDOODLE@Merdeka Coloring and Drawing Competition , the National Storytelling Program, the Merdeka Poetry Competition which will all start from 30 July to 16 September.
