“My father is skilled at cooking maqluba rice and meat porridge (in Kelantan called bubur lambuk) as well as being able to make serunding from a recipe taken from Tumpat.

“During his lifetime, my late father several times told my mother and other siblings to continue the business of selling food after his absence because my mother was also good at cooking,” he said when met by reporters at his home in Taman Sri Pulau, Kubang Kerian, here. on Friday.

According to Omar Hakim, they continue the business for the sake of survival as they need to pay the house rent in addition to supporting his five younger siblings who are still in tahfiz school in Setiu, Terengganu and Sriti Tok Guru in Malacca Island.

Speaking further, he said that after undergoing heart surgery at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in 2020, Bob Lokman decided to return to his hometown in Kubang Kerian to be close to their grandfather, Lokman Ahmad, who is in his 80s and is ill.

“My late father’s health began to deteriorate since last week, but he refused to seek treatment at the hospital despite being persuaded several times.

“During Maghrib yesterday, my late father experienced shortness of breath and the condition continued until 11 this morning causing me and my mother to stay awake until the morning.

“However, due to being too tired, I fell asleep and was woken up by my mother who told me that my father had died,” he said.

His father’s remains were taken to the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) Kubang Kerian to be bathed and shrouded while funeral prayers were held at Kampung Pulau Hilir Mosque, Kubang Kerian, he said.

Bob Lokman underwent surgery to insert an Implantable Automatic Cardioverter Defibrillator (IACD) to stabilize his heartbeat at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Setar, Kedah, in early Dec 2020.

On April 21, Bob Lokman moved to IJN for further treatment, but due to financial constraints, he only received treatment for three days at IJN and was discharged from the hospital and returned to Kelantan on April 24.
