The late Bob Lokman left an artistic legacy that sticks to this day
BOB LOKMAN passed away.
Such was the sad news that the media received around 2.51 pm, yesterday.
Al Fatihah, that’s how the news was answered by the media.
For today’s generation, Bob Lokman is a nobody, in fact he may not even be recognized by his appearance and figure.
But for the art workers of the country, from art connoisseurs, comedians to music, the death of the late Bob Lokman or real name Mohd Hakim Lokman is like losing precious gold.
If not, to introduce the deceased who breathed his last at the age of 58, it is enough for us to agree with the title of the song Isabella that he wrote when he was only 25 years old from the famous rock band, Search.
Yes, Isabella brought Search fame to Indonesia, that’s the song whose lyrics were written by the deceased with Datuk M. Nasir as his ‘mastermind’.
Throughout his life, Bob Lokman was very familiar as a lyricist for rock bands. The deceased is even known to have written around 350 lyrics for the country’s singers.
In addition to Search, Wings with a series of songs including the quite phenomenal, Taman Rashidah Utama and Intan, Ku Kesepian, Allahyarham also sprinkled magic in the song writer Warisan Wanita Terakhir sung by a singer from Singapore, Teacher’s Pet.
If his dedication as a lyricist who reveals many written and implied meanings has not yet brought you to know who Bob Lokman is, perhaps a script like Getaran that was shown in 2001 will remind you of this friendly and easy-to-smile stout figure.
Also, how the deceased was full of humor and yet treated fellow art employees every time he was presented as a judge in a reality program.
However, in recent years, as the age factor increased, the deceased was not very active in the art world due to several complications and illnesses.
On April 8, Bob Lokman was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sultan Ahmad Shah Treatment Center, International Islamic University of Malaysia (Sasmec@IIUM) in Kuantan, Pahang due to fatigue.
On April 21, the deceased moved to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for further treatment.
Due to financial constraints, he only received treatment for three days at IJN and was discharged from the hospital and returned to Kelantan on April 24.
Previously, he underwent surgery to insert an Implantable Automatic Cardioverter Defibrillator (IACD) to stabilize his heart rate at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Setar, Kedah, in early December 2020.
The death of Mohd Hakim Lokman and wanted to be buried at the Islamic Cemetery Pulau Hilir Kubang Kerian on 23 September 2022, on Friday left many memories and sorrows not only to the widow, Relawati Daud and seven children and all the people who knew him.
A local art fighter who at the end of his life struggled with health complications but as he said in an interview in July 2022:
“I just want to stay calm and be positive about this disease.
“I have done all the doctor’s treatment. But God knows best.
“In this life, everyone will die.”
Once Bob Lokman, the genius who was born in the local music scene and became an art celebrity, accepted his destiny.
May there be peace and quiet, the late Bob Lokman. Al Fatihah and condolences to the whole family.
